While opinions differ with each person, you may be excited to return to school or you may be dreading the inevitable. Regardless of how you feel about returning to the classroom, everyone can agree that it’s important to look your best as you make your way back to school. Here are some tips to help your skin look great this school year.

  1. Skin is always producing new cells. During this process, dead cells sit on top of the skin, causing it to look dull and dry. Unfortunately, moisturizing doesn’t help much in this situation. Exfoliate to remove the dead cells from the skin’s surface and save your moisturizer for when you truly will need it.
  2. Read the ingredients of each facial product before buying and using it. Do you pay attention to what’s in the products you’re using? If not, you could be using items that contain alcohol and perfumes, which can cause issues with your skin.
  3. Leave all pimples alone. Rather than trying to pop a pimple that appears, use spot treatment instead that contains salicylic acid. Trying to pop them will only aggravate the skin and put you at risk of scarring.
  4. Use protection. While summer is over, this doesn’t mean you should stop using SPF. Protect your skin from the harmful rays of the sun by using a moisturizer daily that contains SPF.

Try using mineral makeup. If your skin is prone to breakouts, you may want to try mineral makeup. Mineral foundations can even out skin tone without clogging the pores; some even contain healing balms that will help make the skin healthier while masking imperfections. Thick, heavy foundations can prevent the skin from breathing, which can lead to issues with the skin. So the next time you’re shopping for a new foundation, opt for a mineral one instead.
